Deutsche Telekom and Microsoft redefine strategic partnership

Deutsche Telekom Group and Microsoft are expanding their partnership to help small and medium-sized businesses accelerate their cloud transformation initiatives.

The partnership combines Microsoft’s cloud and artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities with Telekom’s cloud migration framework and telecommunications services to accelerate customer success.

“The case for digital transformation has never been more urgent. We know that the next decade of economic performance for every business, whether large or small, will depend on the digital investments made today,” said Jean-Philippe Courtois, executive vice president and president of marketing and operations at Microsoft.

“Through this strategic partnership, which combines the power of Deutsche Telekom’s network and Microsoft’s cloud, customers will have more opportunities to become resilient, accelerate innovation and ultimately drive success.”

Additionally, using Microsoft Azure, Telekom aims to migrate a big chunk of its internal IT workloads to the public cloud by 2025. Telekom says direct access to the Microsoft cloud will be available through Azure ExpressRoute so customers can address regional compliance and data residency needs faster.

Businesses have the choice to move their SAP environments to Azure. “SAP solutions on Azure offer enterprise-grade security, and business continuity and reduce hardware expenses, making it easier for startups and smaller organizations to get started,” the company said.

Microsoft Azure is also T-Systems’ preferred cloud platform in select solution areas. T-Systems, a cloud migration framework by Telekom, will now leverage Azure to migrate and securely manage large-scale applications and critical enterprise workloads globally.

Finally, Microsoft and Deutsche Telekom announced plans to support Germany’s digital education efforts by enabling remote learning through cloud-based IT infrastructure, modern devices, and collaboration applications within Microsoft 365.
