Dr Elaine Halley will be among the speakers presenting at the BACD 18th Annual Conference this November as part of three days of education, hands-on workshops and interactive lectures, as well as opportunities for networking and socialising with likeminded friends and colleagues.
Dr Halley is a BACD Past President and an Accredited Member. She has a MSc in Restorative and Aesthetic Dentistry and is a member of the master group of DSD dentists accredited by Dr Christian Coachman. She is also an opinion leader for industry partners, serves on a publication editorial board and runs highly successful private practices in Perth and Edinburgh.
Supported by Aligner Consulting Dr Halley will run a hands-on session alongside Dr Mohsen Tehranian entitled “The Invisalign Journey: completing a case from start to finish”. She is greatly looking forward to the event, as she explains here.
For me, the BACD is like coming home and I am excited to be speaking at this year’s Conference. As a Past President, I will always have a very special connection to the Academy and its members.
I spoke at the very first conference, so I am very honoured to have been asked to speak again in 2022 and to see how the organisation is growing and thriving. There is always an amazing vibe at this event – it’s full of professionals who are enthusiastic about their future in dentistry.
Part of what makes this Conference special is the structure of the hands-on day followed by amazing lectures. The hands-on session allows us to give practical tips and advice for treatment planning and enables the attendees to practise and ask questions.
Dentistry is a practical subject and so, ultimately, hands-on sessions allow us to pass on skills that delegates can take home and use in their practices the next week.
During the session we will explain how to use a systematic approach for assessing cases using the SAFE assessment form. We will also demonstrate how to create a problem list leading to treatment options and how to use the 4 Sentence Prescription when treating patients with Invisalign.
Finally, we will cover Clincheck assessment, monitoring treatment and finishing cases. All of these areas will be further explained with practical, hands-on sessions so delegates can gain real-life experience with the systems.
I am hoping that this session will increase attendees’ confidence in treatment planning and identifying where tooth movement would be an ideal part of a comprehensive treatment plan. They will take away many tips and tricks on how to prescribe Invisalign, how to prevent problems during treatment and how to monitor and finish cases with predictability.
I am looking forward to meeting up with old friends and making new ones. Anyone who is thinking of attending for the first time please do not hesitate to do so. The BACD is a hugely welcoming organisation – so, whether this will be your first BAD Annual Conference, or you are a regular attender, it is set to be the main event of the cosmetic dental calendar.
