Apple’s latest macOS update, Sequoia (macOS 15), has caused widespread disruption for several major cybersecurity tools, including those from CrowdStrike, SentinelOne, and Microsoft.
Many users and developers have expressed frustration on social media and Mac-centric forums, reporting that key security applications are not functioning properly. Affected tools include CrowdStrike, SentinelOne, Microsoft Defender, and ESET, with some users even encountering browser issues, particularly with Firefox, where the macOS firewall has been blocking web access. The exact cause of the problem remains unclear, but it has presented serious challenges for individual users and enterprise IT teams alike.
The main issue appears to be changes Apple has made to Sequoia’s network stack, which security firms say has interfered with the performance of their products. For instance, CrowdStrike delayed support for Sequoia, citing complications in adapting their software.
